Share Of US Wealth Owned By Top 1% Reaches Record 31.7%

The share of wealth owned by the 1% of richest people in the US hit a record of 31.7% in Q3., according to figures  published in late January by the Federal Reserve.

Q2 of 2025 and Q4 of 2024 had already seen new all-time highs set at or above 31%, as the wealth of the super-rich tends to recover quicker from setbacks like financial crises and global upheaval.

The net worth of the top 1% in the U.S. has been 30% almost  since 2014, while the top 10% have   68%.


The 50% poorest Americans  collectively own  2.5% of US wealth..

    • Yes it’s apalling isn’t it Zeitghost, until about 20 years ago people broadly seemed to be getting gradually better off. Then it all went wrong with a few people getting obscenely rich and everyone else getting poorer.
