Honda and Mythic hook up for auto SoC

Honda and Mythic, the Texas analogue processor startup, are to develop an SoC for  automated driving in SDVs.

Honda is exploring neuromorphic technology, and Mythic  makes neuromorphic neural processing units ((NPUs) which leverage analogue computing for AI processing with low power consumption.

For the development of a neuromorphic SoC, Mythic has original analogue compute-in-memory (CiM) technology and a track record in software implementation.

With its analogue CiM, Mythic is working to minimise data movement for computation and achieve both high computing performance and energy efficiency.

Honda has invested in Mythic which was founded in 2012 in Austin and led by CEO Taner Ozcelik.

Mythic’s speciality in NPUs is seen by Honda  as more promising for following changing tech trends than traditional computer architectures.
