Ireland offers Master’s degree in IC design

A master’s degree in circuit design has been announced by Maynooth University, aimed at helping to grow Ireland’s semiconductor industry.

The new course – the Master of Engineering Science in Integrated Circuit Design – includes an embedded, paid internship. The new 15-month course is described as “an intensive programme” that mixes nine months of classroom learning with a full-time, paid placement in industry.

As part of the programme, students will work directly with companies, take part in site visits, tackle real-world engineering challenges, and complete a major project that builds both technical and professional skills.



The Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science said the course will “help attract, develop and deliver the high-performing talent we need to meet our semiconductor ambitions”.
