Before joining SEMI, Barrett was senior vice president and CFO of Efinix, a programmable semiconductor company. He also held senior roles at Super Micro Computer, Rambus, Micron Technology and Altera.
“Greg’s specialised industry expertise will be beneficial for helping SEMI reach its financial, operational, and membership goals,” said Ajit Manocha, SEMI president and CEO. He added that his track record in strategic planning and corporate finance for the semiconductor industry aligns with SEMI’s mission to foster growth and innovation across the global microelectronics ecosystem. “We’re confident that Greg will make an outstanding addition to our global leadership team,” he said.
“As semiconductor technologies become more complex, the need for unified industry engagement becomes more apparent. I look forward to advancing this mission alongside SEMI’s senior leaders and board members,” said Barrett.
“Kevin was instrumental in laying a strong foundation for SEMI’s financial growth strategy,” said Manocha. “He guided SEMI in financing the expansion of our programs to address the global semiconductor industry’s most pressing challenges, and he executed on our strategic plan to develop diversified revenue streams and emerge stronger than ever post-pandemic. We thank Kevin for his invaluable service to SEMI, our members and the industry.”
Barrett’s announcement was made days before SEMI’s SEMICON West takes place in Phoenix, Arizona, USA (7-9 October). The event has moved from San Francisco and has placed a spotlight on the city as “a hub for innovation and growth” in the semiconductor, electronics design and manufacturing supply chain. In 2020, TSMC announced plans to open a fab in Phoenix producing 4nm chips for US customers.
