SambaNova seeks more funding for AI

SambaNova, the AI company whose chairman is Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan (pictured) and which was in M&A talks with Intel at a valuation of $1.6 billion, is now seeking $300 million to $500 million in extra funding, reports Bloomberg.

The success of  the fund raising for rivals Groq and Cerebras, and the winning of several sovereign  AI contracts have transformed SambaNova’s prospects, says SambaNova CEO Rodrigo Liang.

SambaNova seeks more funding for AILiang told staff that “additional large investors” were interested.

Among those said to be interested in putting more money into SambaNova is Intel.



The lead investor in SambaNova’s Series A round was Walden International whose chairman is Lip-Bu Tan.

The lead investor in SambaNova’s $150 million Series B was Intel.

Softbank’s Vision Fund was the lead investor in SambaNova’s 2021 Series Dwhich valued SambaNova at $5 billion.
