Packaging options include placement aids, tape-and-reel and bar magazines, designed for automatic handling processes. Fischer Elektronik offers the socket headers with up to 80 poles for the double-row models and up to 40 poles for the single-row variants and with gold- or tin-plated contact surfaces.
The headers are robust, said the company – direct force can be applied to the connector and they are practical where installation space is limited or where access is difficult. They also enable additional routing of contacts through the PCB to be soldered on the through-hole side for “significantly higher mechanical stability”. According to the company, the resulting forces are optimally distributed to the insulating body and the PCB, claiming that this significantly increases the service life of the connector.
The electromechanical component manufacturer also offers the headers with integrated positioning pins. These ensure precise alignment during assembly and also contribute to optimised force dissipation which is advantageous when used in high-frequency mating, vibration or demanding environmental conditions, said the company.
