Mouser stocks Murata’s gyro-accelerometer for robotics

Mouser has announced it is stocking Murata Electronics’ SCH16T-K10 6-DOF gyroscope and accelerometer.

Murata gyroscope accelerometer from Mouser

The SCH16T-K10 is a combined gyroscope and accelerometer. The six degrees of freedom IMU (inertial measurement unit) is the latest in three-axis angular rate and three-axis inertial measurement unit , part of Murata Electronics’ six-axis series.

The sensor is based on 3D MEMS technology and uses mixed signal processing and a mixed signal asic. In application settings can be selected and provide gyroscope measurement of 200 degrees per second. Typical recommended dynamic range is up to ±2600°s . Accelerometer measurement range is selectable in-application from ±160m/s2 to ±15m/s2 with default dynamic range of ±260m/s2. The sensor’s dynamic dynamic range is x10 that of earlier IMUs, making it suitable for drone and robotics applications, said Mouser.

According to the distributor, it can deliver accurate and unsaturated measurements in dynamic conditions, due to its vibration rectification and mechanical robustness to operate during high shocks.

Other features are a SafeSPI v2.0 interface, 20-bit and 16-bit output data, self-diagnostics – using over 200 monitoring signals, and a SOIC-24 package measuring 11.8 ×13.4 x 2.9mm.

Operating voltage is 3V-3.6V, with 1.7V -3.6V I/O supply voltage range and 36mA – 47mA total supply current range. Operating temperature range is -40°C to +110°C.

Mouser also provides a SCH16T-K10-PCB sensor board for application development. This has a pre-mounted SCH16T-K10 IMU, pin headers, and all the required passive components, it said. It provides an example application circuit, for rapid prototyping when the sensor is incorporated into existing designs.
