Using a standard base design, the ADCs are factory-configurable using the ResolutionEngine to produce more than 150 ADC options, with sample rates from 20 to 250Msps. The standard base allows shorter lead times, said Silanna and long-term supply chain security. The company said that lead time is reduced to weeks instead of months and can reduce the cost of the ADCs to 30% below legacy brands.
There are four ADC platforms and initial configurations have been developed as drop-in replacements for many of the most common ADCs.
“Recent years have seen several companies merge, with few able to come into the market and we’ve reached a point where there are now, effectively, only two legacy brands controlling the ADC space.” said Patrick Moore, vice president, global sales and apps at Silanna. He explained that the company’s configurable approach allows a broad range of ADCs to be produced more effectively than existing methods. He added: “We’re delighted to partner with DigiKey to extend Plural’s reach and deliver choice to a market starved for it.”
Ken Paxton, director, advanced semiconductor at DigiKey, added: “Our global customers will benefit from the ability to source high-performance 10- to 16-bit ADCs, paired with lower costs and shorter lead times, empowering them to design with more confidence.”
