Tablet shipments tumble

Q2 tablet shipments st 49.3 million units will be 10% down on Q2 2014, says DigiTimes Research.

iPads are forecast to decline 30% q-o-q in Q2 to 9.8 million units.

Non-Apple tablet shipments are expected to reach around 19 million units in Q2, about the same level as Q1 because Samsung Electronics has shifted its mass shipment schedule from the first quarter to the second.


Lenovo’s MediaTek-based inexpensive tablet has also started mass shipments in the second quarter.


Asustek Computer is expected to see shipments decline in the quarter because of reduced subsidies from Intel and issues with Intel’s SoFIA 3G-R.

Taiwan ODMs’ tablet shipments will drop below 15 million units in Q2.
