DC link film capacitors with a max operating temperature of +125 °C

TDK has announced its B3271xP series of DC link film capacitors, with a maximum operating temperature of +125 °C and no power derating up to +105 °C.

DC link film capacitors with a max operating temperature of +125 °CThe company highlights the thermal robustness makes them suitable for demanding automotive and industrial power electronics applications. For example, xEV traction inverters, onboard chargers, and DC-DC converters, where continuous ripple loads are common.

They come in a flame-retardant plastic case and epoxy sealing (UL 94 V-0). And they are available with lead spacings of 27.5mm, 37.5mm, and 52.5mm, in both 2-pin and (on request) 4-pin configurations.

For DC link filtering and reduced thermal rise, TDK also highlights typical ESR values being down to the single-digit milliohm range. And a high current capability at 10kHz.

Note, for the B3271xP series, TDK provides various SPICE model libraries. And there’s its web-based Capacitor Life And Rating Application (CLARA) tool.
