MIPI D-PHY ReDriver
“The device regenerates D-PHY signalling in channels that involve PCB traces, connectors and cables, providing optimal electrical performance from a CSI-2/DSI source to sink by compensating for frequency loss,” writes the company.
Supporting data rates up to 2.5Gbps, it features four differential data lanes and one clock lane. And it is designed for the MIPI D-PHY 1.2 protocol, with 100Ω differential CML data I/O between CSI-2 Source and CSI-2 Sink.
The device provides programmable equalisation, output swing and pre-emphasis, says the company, reducing Inter-Symbol Interference. It also supports pin adjustable on receiver equalisation and edge rate on transmitter rise and fall time.

Power efficiency
On power efficiency, Diodes adds: “Power efficiency is also a critical design feature, particularly for battery electric vehicles. The device operates from a low supply voltage of 1.8V. It minimises power consumption by supporting ultra-low power (ULPS) and low-power (LP) states. Activity-detection circuitry integrated into the D-PHY link interface facilitates its transition into a lower power mode when in the ULPS and LP states. Power consumption metrics include 200mW (max) in active mode, 6mW in low-power mode and 0.2mW (max.) in standby mode.”
The part is supplied in the W-QFN3555-28/SWP package (3.5×5.5mm). The company says it is available at $0.88 in 3,500-piece quantities.
Standard compliance versions, PI2MEQX2505A and PI2MEQX2503A (4 lanes and 2 lanes of data respectively), are also available.
The MIPI D-PHY ReDriver application schematic shown above is taken from the part’s Data Brief.
Terms
When it says “automotive compliant”, Diodes means the part is AEC-qualified, manufactured in facilities certified to IATF 16949, and is supporting the Part Approval Process documents for suppliers to meet customer requirements.
MIPI D-PHY refers to the physical layer interface developed by the MIPI Alliance. Uses include, for example, to connect high-resolution cameras, radar, lidar and display sensors.
