and deliver 30% greater radiant intensity than the firm’s prior-generation devices, and operate over -40°C to +110°C.
“Ideal for position tracking in virtual or augmented reality applications, these emitters help simplify designs by eliminating the need for external barriers such as rubber rings,” according to distributor New Yorker Electronics, a global franchise distributor for Vishay Technology.
The emitters have opaque walls to eliminate unwanted side emissions, unlike packages that are made from all-transparent epoxy, reducing the chances of a halo effect in camera images. Emission is ±60° to half intensity.
The packages are 2 x 1.25 x 0.8mm (0805), claimed to be the smallest with opaque side walls.
Rise and fall times are 7ns, the forward voltage is 1.6V at 100mA, and the parts have a floor life of 168 hours – moisture sensitivity levels are 3 in accordance with J-STD-020.
Automotive parts are available qualified to AEC-Q101.
Other potential applications according to New Yorker include proximity sensors, optical switches and miniature light barriers.
The distributor supplies the full line of Vishay Optoelectronics including optocouplers, optical Sensors, 7-segment displays, infra-red receivers, solid-state relays, LCD displays, visible LEDs, plasma displays, IrDA transceivers and infrared touch panels.
