SBS sees growth in comms boards

A 50 per cent rise in revenue from telecoms products helped embedded board maker SBS Technologies grow sales by 16 per cent to $133.9m for its financial year, with net profits of $5.2m.

“This has been a very successful year for SBS. We have completed the fourth quarter and fiscal year with strong revenue growth,” said Clarence Peckham, CEO of SBS.

Most of the firm’s sales are in the Americas, with $97.1m in the last 12 months. However, Europe shows much faster growth, up 74 per cent over the year to $36.8m.


“Both the Americas and European businesses grew this past quarter and the quoting activity and design win funnel continue to grow,” said Peckham.


The company’s biggest customers are Applied Materials, making up ten per cent of sales, and Ericsson, taking eight per cent of total sales.

Government customers provide the firm with 51 per cent of its revenue, while commercial and communications make up 30 per cent and 19 per cent respectively.

This year SBS has expanded into China with a sales and technical support office in Shenzhen. the firm hopes to make 30 per cent of its sales from China withing three to five years.

“In order for SBS to continue to maintain and increase organic growth, we will expand our global presence and maintain our market diversity,” Peckham said.
