300W PCA300F and 1kW PCA1000F have been added to the existing 600W PCA600F.
The PCA series have a built-in extended-UART interface supporting up to 83 commands to monitor and control power supply parameters, and PMBus versions are to follow in Q4.
Complying with medical standards EN/IEC 60601-1, the 300W and 1kW parts have 4kVac reinforced input to output isolation and two means of patient protection (2xMOPP). Isolation from input to input filter ground (FG) is 2,000kVac (1xMOPP) and output isolation to FG and other functional pins is 500Vac.
Inputs are universal at 85 to 264Vac, and can also use 88 to 370Vdc.
Output voltage options are: 5, 12, 15, 24, 32 or 48Vdc, and all can be adjusted to near zero volts.
Multi-PSU series or parallel operation is possible for extra power, and n+1 parallel redundant operation is possible for improved system reliability and availability.
As well as constant voltage (CV) regulation on the main output, the PSUs can also be set to constant current (CC) mode.
“PCA600F, PCA300F and PCA1000F combine the benefits of constant voltage and constant current, simplifying designers’ task when developing power systems requiring both modes without adding external circuitry – for example Pb-acid battery charging requiring constant current charging up to 90%, and constant voltage above that,” according to the firm.
Alongside the main output is an independent isolated auxiliary 12Vdc, that can be adjusted across 4.7-12.6V using digital control.
Analogue and digital interfaces are included.
Analogue interface includes current adjustment (ITRM), voltage adjustment (VTRM), remote control on-off, voltage sensing, LED alarms and current monitoring.
For the digital control and monitoring interface, all 83 are accessible via the firm’s ‘extended-UART control panel’, which can control up to seven units. Operating data can be stored and locked inside the PSU’s internal memory, and recorded error codes can be used for analysis and the recording of operational hours for preventive maintenance.
All come in 1U (41mm) high housings. PCA300F is 152 x 89mm and 840g. PCA1000F is 178 x 102mm and 1.2kg.
Operation is over -20 to +70°C – an internal fan is automatically speed-adjusted to match environmental conditions, or can be set to maximum manually via the digital interface.
Protections include: in-rush current limiting, over-current, thermal and output status alarm.
Agency approvals include: UL62368-1, EN62368-1, C-UL (equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.62368-1), ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1, EN60601-1 3rd, C-UL (equivalent to CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.60601-1), and compliance with IEC60601-1-2 4th Ed.
Conducted noise for PCA300 complies with FCC Part15 class B, VCCI-B, CISPR32-B, EN55011-B, EN55032-B, while PCA1000 complies with FCC Part15 class A, VCCI-A, CISPR32-A, EN55011-A, EN55032-A. The harmonic attenuator of both models complies with the IEC61000-3-2 (class A).
