Investors were Plural, Germany’s Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation (Sprind)m General Catalyst and 201 Ventures.
Last week, the company tested its first navigation system which controlled a missile travelling at 7,400kph.
“I grew up with a deep understanding that freedom, safety and security aren’t just there, you need to actively do something to have them,” says CEO Philipp Kerth, “it is recognised throughout Europe that this capability of ‘deep strike’ is what is going to build the deterrents and defence that we need.”
Last year, the UK and Germany agreed to develop deep strike missiles with a 2000km+ range.
Hypersonica plans to have missiles ready to use by the end of the decade.
Hypersonica does not reveal the ost target for its missiles. US hypersonic missiles currently cost $40 million each, but the Pentagon has stated it hopes to get that down to $5-10 million.
