TDK expands NTC thermistor series for automotive power modules

TDK is expanding its NTCSP series of NTC thermistor components with two new options. For temperature detection and temperature compensation, they are primarily aimed at automotive power modules.

For example, applications such anti‑lock braking systems (ABS), transmissions, and engines.

As mentioned, there are two further variations in the series: NTCSP163JF103FT1H and NTCSP164KF104FT1H. They differ on resistance and the B constant for resistance sensitivity. The NTCSP163JF103FT1H has a resistance of 10kΩ, with a B constant of 3435K. And the NTCSP164KF104FT1H has a resistance of 100kΩ along with a B constant of 4485.

The components are designed for conductive‑glue mounting for operation in high‑temperature environments up to +175 °C.

Supporting an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +175 °C, they are compliant with AEC‑Q200. And the dimensions are 1.6 x 0.8 x 0.8mm.

Both components use AgPd (silver‑palladium) terminals compatible with conductive‑glue mounting.

Heat-resistant

TDK writes:

“To drive higher automotive performance, more powerful and heat-resistant power semiconductors are required. Consequently, electronic components mounted in these power modules must also be able to withstand higher temperatures. While the maximum guaranteed operating temperature for TDK’s existing products was +150 °C, the company has now expanded its range to cover up to +175 °C.”

Mass production of the series began this month, TDK says.
