The Embedded Accelerator is designed to help UK electronics designers and innovators to scale effectively and refine prototypes and attract investors.
The 12-week programme will support up to 10 startups with a cost-effective way to build a physical prototype as well as mentoring support. Engineers from the Essex-based company will help candidates design the first proof-of-concept or the next iteration of an existing prototype. As well as access to the company’s design talent, its professional grade electronics lab and equipment, they can also receive design-for-manufacture guidance and mentoring.
“The UK’s electronics startup economy is bursting at the seams with brilliant ideas, but so many don’t make it past the functional proof of concept stage. Our mission is to change this by giving a new cohort access to expert mentors, workshops, a pro-grade electronics lab, funding and more.
“Together, we can boost the embedded electronics startup economy with a wave of next-generation embedded products, home-grown in the UK,” said Dr Nicola Wheeler-Thorn (pictured), CEO and MD of ANDtr who is leading the programme with founder and chairman Dr Valerie Lynch.
They have already announced collaborative workshops with mentors from Arrow Electronics, Neuchin Design, Arise Aru and the University of Essex.
Cohort members are required to provide one-third of the project’s total funding (minimum £5,000) to cover essential costs related to prototype development, in order to be eligible for matched funding of up to £25,000 per cohort member.
