1,200W from 900cm3 ac-dc power supply

Finnish company Enedo Power has turned to GaN transistors to put a 1,200W ac-dc power supply into a 41 x 107 x 206mm (900cm3) volume.

Called HDP1200, they run from 85 – 305Vac (de-rated to 1kW below 137Vac) and produce 24V or 48V depending on type, plus a 5V 1.5A stand-by output. Efficiency is up to 95.5%, and a fan is built-in for cooling as airflow is needed.

“Being digitally controlled the front-mounted fan rotation speed guarantees the minimum required airflow, minimising audible noise for quiet operation,” according to Luso Eletronics, which is stocking the power supplies. “HDP1200 features a built-in current-share circuit for parallel operation to enhance total power.”

Both active-low and active-high enable connections are provided, as is a power-ok signal.

For medical use, the supplies are approved to IEC 60601-1, have two means of patient protection (2x MoPP) and are suitable for BF-rated medical equipment.

For audio Video and IT equipment, they are also certified to the latest edition of IEC 62368-1, and they comply with UL8750 for LED lighting.
