Based on an Arm Cortex-M33 core, operating at 180MHz, and integrates peripherals to control and optimise dual motor performance, with power factor correction. It also integrates DSP extensions and a floating-point unit.  It is equipped with 256kB flash, 64kB Data-Flash, and 32kB SRAM, enabling it to handle both motor control program storage and real-time data processing. Flash and SRAM both support ECC for data integrity and system reliability.

The microcontroller has integral hardware accelerators for trigonometric functions and Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM), designed specifically for field oriented control (FOC) algorithms. With performance is up to 705 Coremark and 267DMIPS, it easily handles complex FOC algorithms, said GigaDevice.

Integration not only address efficiency of FOC algorithms but also reduces CPU workload and enhances motor speed control precision, said the company and lowers operating noise and improves energy efficiency.

There are two channels of enhanced AD timers for independent driving of dual FOC. Hardware phase-shifted ADC trigger linkage, can be used for synchronous current and voltage sampling. This can eliminate the delays typical in traditional software-triggered systems, said the company

There is also an integrated port output controller and general timer output controller for filtered overcurrent protection without CPU intervention. for “microsecond level response time”.

Voltage range is 2.7V~5.5V and operating temperature range is -40℃ to +105℃ and junction temperature is up to +125℃. For harsh environments and outdoor systems, it delivers HBM ±4kV, CDM ±1kV ESD performance and withstands ±200mA latch-up current at 125°C.

Communication interface options include I2C, SPI, and CAN 2.0B as well as four UARTs. There are also three dedicated CP-timers and four GP-timers.

The GD32M531 microcontroller series is suitable for use in varied home appliances, including air conditioning units, refrigeration, air source heat pumps, washing machines/dryers, dishwashers, and multi-burner induction cookers.

Samples and development boards are available now. Mass production is scheduled to begin next month.
