The new series – HFE3500 – aims at applications including factory automation, industrial printing, RF transmission, base stations, and servers. And each 1U high 19” rack can accommodate up to four power supplies. They can deliver 13300W of bulk power or operate as a hot-swap redundant system.
The internal ORing MOSFETs and current share function enable hot-swap operation, says TDK. And up to 12 HFE3500 units (three racks) can connect in parallel.
Note that 24V and 48V models are available with adjustment ranges of 24.0 – 27.6 and 48.0 – 55.2 V. Communication with the power supplies is through the built-in isolated PMBus (I2C) interface. AC fail, DC good, remote output adjustment, remote on/off and a 5V or 12V auxiliary output are fitted as standard, says the company. There is an option for dual ac input fuses.
HFE3500
The HFE3500 power supplies have an input range of 85 – 264 Vac with power derating to 2016 W below 170 Vac.
The HFE3500-S1U/TB rack has input screw terminal blocks for a rugged connection.
The power supply measures 107 x 40.1 x 330mm, and the rack 444.5 x 43.7 x 428mm. Cooling is provided by two internal, variable-speed fans.
The HFE3500 modules’ efficiency is 94 % at 230 Vac and 92 % at 115 Vac input.
The HFE series’ input to output isolation is 3 kVac, the input to ground 2 kVac, and output to ground 500 Vdc.
Standards
In terms of standards compliance, safety certifications for the HFE3500 series include IEC/UL/CSA/EN62368-1 and EN/UL61010-1. And it also carries the CE and UKCA marking for the Low Voltage, EMC and RoHS Directives.
Finally, the units comply with EN55011 Class B, EN55032 Class B, FCC Title 47, Chapter 1, Part 15.107 – Class B, VCCI Class B for conducted EMI, plus EN55011 Class A, EN55032 Class A, FCC Title 47, Chapter 1, Part 15.109 – Class A, and VCCI Class A for radiated EMI.
The HFE3500 models have a five-year warranty.
