The plan is to use Nissan Leaf EVs with Wayve’s ADAS tech.
“We have been testing our technology throughout Japan since early 2025,” said Wayve CEO Alex Kendall,
“partnering with Uber and Nissan to begin pilot deployment of Robotaxis allows us to introduce this technology in a responsible way.”
Initially the cars will contain a safety driver.
Uber and Wayve are looking at launching robotaxi services in ten cities including Tokyo and London during this year.
